NFL NEWS AT YOUWAGER: PARENTS PROMISE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR SUPER BOWL BROTHERS

“Attack this day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.”

-Coach Jack Harbaugh, to sons John and Jim

Like most conscientious loving parents, the Harbaughs, Jack and Jackie, want to be supportive for both of their boys. Even if they happen to be opposing each other for the NFL Championship. As YouWager’s football bettors watch the Super Bowl on February 3rd, wishing for an outcome that will reward their wagers, the parents of the head coaches will have a tougher dilemma. Which son do they visit first after the game?

When John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens and Jim Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers meet, their mom claims she will be neutral. Jackie Harbaugh told a YouWager news source, “I really would like it to end in a tie. Can the NFL do that?”

Father Jack Harbaugh said he is very proud of both sons. Jack, who coached for 43 years, mostly in college football, told YouWager’s source how difficult it was him when Baltimore beat San Francisco in a Thanksgiving Day game in the 2011 NFL football betting season. He said, “We peeked into the Ravens’ locker room and saw them ecstatic, guys jumping up and down, the smile on John’s face,” the father said. “I thought ‘we’re really not needed here.’ We walked across the hall and went into the 49er locker room. Quiet, somber. Finally I saw Jim all by himself…hands on his head, and realized that’s where we were needed to be.

“The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. We know we’re going to experience that next week.”

Knowing what they face, the family, they say, as a whole, celebrated when they got to this point in the NFL playoffs. Jackie said, “After the conference championship games, was a joyful moment for our family, a great, great feeling of joy. The Super Bowl is the ultimate accomplishment.”

The two head coaches are only 15 months apart in age. The family they grew up in was completely absorbed in football. Their father clearly inspired them to dedicate themselves and play their hearts out, they say. Their mother said, “The main lesson has been about family and making their team part of their own family, and bringing their teams together as a family. That’s what really makes me proud, and Jack proud.”

When dad faced major cutbacks as the head coach at Western Kentucky, son Jim, an NFL quarterback at the time, got certified to help as an assistant coach, and worked for free.  Recruitment was the challenge. Son John, an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati, also found prospects that could help the school’s football program. Dad told YouWager’s source, “It was almost divine intervention.” With the help of his sons, Coach Jack Harbaugh’s team would go on to win the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA championship.

YouWager’s NFL football betting fans saw the Harbaugh brothers square off earlier, in that game some sportsbook bettors first called the ‘Harbaugh Bowl’ on Thanksgiving, last season. John’s Ravens won that one. This time, brother Jim’s 49ers are the apparent favorite, getting 3.5 points at YouWager. The total for the super-duper shootout is 47.5. Game time, on Sunday February 3rd, is 7PM Eastern.
