NBA All-Star Game News at YouWager: Bulls and Spurs Get Two Extra Reserves

San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan was selected to his 14th All-Star Game and his teammate Tony Parker is joining him. YouWager experts also learned that the Chicago Bulls also had two reserves chosen in Joakin Noah and Luol Deng for February’s game in Houston.

Chicago has remained in the thick of the Eastern Conference NBA playoff race even with the season-long absence of point guard Derrick Rose. Noah is one of five first-time All-Stars for the East, along with New York Knicks’ Tyson Chandler, Indiana Pacers’ Paul George, Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving, and Philadelphia 76′s Jrue Holiday.

Picked for the second time were West forwards David Lee (Golden State Warriors), LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trail Blazers) and Zach Randolph (Memphis Grizzlies). Houston Rockets’ James Harden was chosen for the first time and joins former Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook, headed to his third straight All-Star game.

In 2012 Duncan wasn’t chosen for the first time in his career however he managed to recover with an outstanding season at age 36, averaging 17.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots, his best statistics since 2009-10.

The 4x NBA champion makes it to group that includes Michael Jordan for fifth-most selections. Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett, both voted to start, and Shaquille O’Neal all were chosen 15 times. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the career leader as a 19-time All-Star.

These NBA reserves were voted by the head coaches from each conference, who had to chosen two guards, three frontcourt players and two players regardless of position. Coaches could not vote for players from their own teams.
