The Florida Gators have been able to overcome what seems to be an endless amount of injuries to key players and YouWager experts consider they have made it off to a solid start in SEC play.
Tonight, the Gators will meet the Texas A&M Aggies – one of the conference’s newcomers that are more that ready to present another tough challenge.
The 10th-ranked Florida team will have Mike Rosario back in the lineup tonight when the team visits Elston Turner the Aggies.
Rosario sat out Saturday’s 74-52 win versus the LSU Tigers with a sprained left ankle after scoring 19 points as the Gators (12-2, 2-0) beat the Georgia Bulldogs 77-44 on Jan. 9. He will likely suit up tonight however Casey Prather suffered a high ankle sprain against the Tigers and will be out up to two weeks.
In addition, also dealing with injuries are guard Scottie Wilbekin (finger) and forwards Erik Murphy (rib) and Will Yeguete (knee).
Those injuries haven’t be able to slow down Florida, a team that’s shooting 52.3 percent during a four-game winning streak. The Aggies rank second in the SEC giving up 59.4 points per game, trailing only the Gators (52.0).
Florida’s coach Billy Donovan, a team that also leads the conference in field-goal percentage defense at 36.5, credits Wilbekin as being one of the league’s top defenders as well as possessing a solid all-around game.
According to the college basketball odds, Wilbekin better shut down Turner, who scored a career-high 40 points in the Aggies 83-71 win against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
The Gators lead the SEC averaging only 11.4 giveaways.
Turner’s 20 points weren’t enough to assist overcome 22 from Kenny Boynton as the Gators beat the Aggies 84-64 on a neutral court in the most recent meeting Dec. 17, 2011.
