Cowboys Place Josh Brent on Reserve List: NFL Talk at YouWager

YouWager has learned that the Dallas Cowboys are likely to move defensive tackle Josh Brent from the active roster to the reserved non-football injury list.

The move would allow for Dallas to clear a roster spot for a player capable of helping out while enabling players and coaches to support Brent and provide him access to their Valley Ranch facility.

The 24 year-old players has been described as emotionally unable to play after being charged with intoxication manslaughter for his alleged involvement in the death of teammate Jerry Brown in a one-car accident early Saturday morning.

Dallas’ executive vice president Stephen Jones, attending the league owners’ meetings in the city, said Brent “probably” will end up on the non-football injury list for the season after some details are finalized with the NFL.

The team’s coach Jason Garrett said earlier this week that the Cowboys would “support Josh 100 percent in every way that we can.”

Yesterday the nose tackle and the rest of the team attended a memorial service for Brown in Dallas. According to sources, Brown’s mother, Stacey Jackson, asked for Brent to meet her at the airport and sit with the Brown family during the service.

Police reports state that Brent was speeding early Saturday when his vehicle struck a curb and flipped. Brown was taken to a Dallas hospital, where he was laters pronounced dead. According to the Dallas County medical examiner he died after suffering blunt force trauma to his head and neck.
