Toledo Rockets vs. Northern Illinois Huskies
Tip-off: Wednesday, November 14, 2012 – 9:00 PM ET
Huskie Stadium, DEKALB, IL
Tonight YouWager bettors will have another great chance to wager on college football when the 9-1 Northern Illinois Huskies host the 8-2 Toledo Rockets with the MAC West title essentially on the line.
For a third time in a row now these two teams have met late in the season to decide the division the 6-0 Northern Illinois will clinch the division with a victory. Toledo is 5-1 and will clinch the division with 2 more wins. If tonight the Rockets come out victorious and both the Huskies and Toledo lose next week against the Akron Zips and the Eastern Michigan Eagles respectively then the Ball State Cardinals can force a three way tie if they win out. The Zips and the Eagles have one victory each so it is not likely both could pull off upsets on the same day.
According to the NCAA live lines, the Rockets lead the series 29-10, but the Huskies have won 2 straight in the series to clinch berths in the MAC Championship game. In 2011 the meeting between these teams was one to never forget because the Huskies won a 63-60 shootout in Toledo. The Rockets haven’t played in the MAC Championship game for the last eight years.
The Rockets are led by first year coach Matt Campbell and have won 8 straight games since a season opening defeat versus the Arizona Wildcats 24-17 in overtime. Even so, that streak was snapped last week as they were upset 34-27 by the Cardinals in Toledo.
The Rockets have home victories over the Bowling Green Falcons 27-15, Coastal Carolina 38-28, Central Michigan 50-35, and the Cincinnati Bearcats 29-23, along with road victories at Wyoming 34-31, Western Michigan 37-17, Eastern Michigan 52-47 and versus the Buffalo Bulls 25-20. Toledo is 6-4 ATS and the total is 3-6 this season. The Rockets were a 6 point favorite in the Ball State game and the total was 70.5.
The Huskies are coached by Dave Doeren and have won 9 straight games since a season opening defeat versus the Iowa Hawkeyes 18-17 in Chicago. Norther Illinois has home victories over Tennessee-Martin 35-7, Kansas 30-23, Central Michigan 55-24, the Buffalo Bulls 45-3, and last week against Massachusetts 63-0. NIU has road wins at Army 41-40, Ball St 35-23, Akron 37-7, and Western Michigan 48-34.
