Tim Tebow is not the only one in the NFL to call upon the power of prayer to win a game. The wife of a New England Patriot is calling for all the help the team can get to win the Vincent Lombardy Trophy.
The New York Post is at it again. This paper loves to hype the Super Bowl. Especially in ways that will excite the fans of the New York Giants because that apparently sells a lot of newspapers. This time, in an effort to fuel the fires of Giants bettors and fans, the Post published an emotional email privately circulated by Tom Brady’s lovely wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. In the email, Brady’s wife asks friends and family to send some positive thoughts to the quarterback before the NFL championship contest between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
In the email, Bundchen asks, in a very nice way, for aid in destroying the New York Giants on the field of battle:
“My sweet friends and family. This Sunday will be a really important day in my husband’s life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning this super bowl. I feel Tommy really needs our prayer, our support and love at this time. So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory this Sunday.”
Sounds innocent enough, doesn’t it? Well known for their tacky headlines, the New York Post teased this exclusive with the banner, ‘NOT A PRAYER!’ and wrote, ‘Good heavens! Gisele’s plea for Tom to win.’
Some YouWager bettors might feel that simply living with a Brazilian supermodel would be the answer to a prayer. Or that New York City is a poor, Godless town destined for failure. But it seems that Gisele feels very strongly that husband Tom also deserves to win the Super Bowl. And he should be feeling ‘confident, healthy and strong.’ Leading oddsmakers seem to share some of the confidence in Tom Brady’s health and strength already. The Patriots are 3 point favorites at YouWager. The total is 54.
An NFL wagering expert at YouWager reminds us that in his 10 seasons as a starter for the New England Patriots, Brady has made the trip to the Super Bowl five times. And they won three of them, in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX. Brady holds the record in the NFL for most touchdown passes in a single regular season. His postseason career record is 16–5. Brady helped set the record for the longest consecutive winning streak in the history of the NFL with 21 straight wins over two seasons (2003–04), and in the 2007 NFL football betting season, he led the Patriots to the first undefeated regular season since the 16-game schedule was instituted. Brady also holds several regular season and postseason records, such as the most touchdown passes in a regular season (50), he has the highest touchdown-to-interception ratio in a single season (9:1), the highest single-game completion percentage, regular season or postseason (26/28, 92.9%), the most consecutive pass attempts without an interception (358), the most consecutive regular-season home wins (31), the highest winning percentage of any quarterback during his first 100 starts (76 wins), and the most completions in one Super Bowl (32).
If Tim Tebow had made it into the Super Bowl, would YouWager bettors be surprised to see a story circulating about a prayer chain? Not hardly. The only surprise here, for some sports fans, is the source of these efforts.
“Brady’s statistics are incredible,” YouWager’s NFL betting pro says. “And he is married to one of the world’s most beautiful women. If prayer is his secret. It looks like it has been working,”
